One minus would be that the wealthy (who pay more taxes) would have even more political influence than they already do. But I think that being able to allocate a certain percentage of your taxes to programs of your choosing would be a great idea.
Hmmm. Good one. Maybe if there were a system to require the government to allocate $$ as taxpayers request, there needs to be some way to so allocate by numbers of taxpayers and not by amount of tax paid? This would include those whose tax is zero because of tax credits? What do you think?
